The Samsung 42-Inch Class OLED S90F 4K Smart TV showcases a design that is both elegant and functional. Its ultra-slim profile, measuring just a few millimeters thick, allows it to blend seamlessly into any living space. The virtually bezel-less display maximizes the screen area, providing an immersive viewing experience. The stand is sturdy yet minimalist, ensuring stability while maintaining a clean look. This design choice is not just about aesthetics; it also enhances the overall viewing experience by reducing distractions.
Materials used in the construction of the S90F are of high quality, contributing to its durability. The back panel is made of robust plastic, which is lightweight yet strong enough to support the OLED screen. Additionally, the TV features cable management options, allowing you to keep wires organized and out of sight, further enhancing the clean aesthetic. The screen itself is protected by a layer of tempered glass, which adds to its resilience against accidental bumps and scratches.
In comparison to other models in its class, such as the LG C2 OLED and Sony A80K OLED, the S90F holds its own. While LG is known for its superior color accuracy and Sony for its processing capabilities, the S90F strikes a balance between both with its NQ4 AI Gen3 Processor, which significantly enhances picture quality through advanced upscaling techniques. The design elements of the S90F also cater to modern consumer preferences, making it a strong contender in the OLED market.
Display Performance: Unmatched Visual Quality
The display performance of the Samsung 42-Inch Class OLED S90F 4K Smart TV is one of its standout features. The OLED panel technology provides perfect black levels, which is crucial for contrast and depth in images. This is particularly noticeable in dark scenes, where details remain visible without the grayish haze that can occur in LED TVs. The color accuracy is impressive, with vibrant hues that pop off the screen, making it ideal for watching movies, sports, and playing video games.
The Pro HDR+ feature elevates the viewing experience by expanding the dynamic range, allowing for brighter highlights and deeper shadows. This capability is enhanced by the TV's support for various HDR formats, including HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. During testing, content viewed in HDR displayed a remarkable level of detail, with subtle variations in color and brightness that added realism to the viewing experience.
Additionally, the Motion Xcelerator technology with a 144Hz refresh rate significantly reduces motion blur, making it perfect for fast-paced content such as action movies and sports broadcasts. In practical usage, gamers will appreciate the low input lag and smooth frame transitions, which are critical for competitive gaming. The S90F performed exceptionally well in this regard, providing a fluid gaming experience without noticeable stuttering or tearing.
Audio Performance: Immersive Sound Experience
While display quality is vital, audio performance is equally important for a complete home entertainment experience. The Samsung 42-Inch Class OLED S90F 4K Smart TV features Object Tracking Sound technology, which uses built-in speakers to create a three-dimensional soundstage. This technology allows the audio to follow the action on-screen, providing a more immersive experience. During testing, the sound quality was surprisingly robust for a TV of this size, with clear dialogue and decent bass response.
However, while the built-in speakers are effective, audiophiles may still prefer an external sound system or soundbar for a richer audio experience. The S90F supports various audio formats, including Dolby Atmos, which can enhance the sound quality further when paired with compatible audio equipment. The TV also includes various sound modes tailored for different types of content, such as movies, sports, and music, allowing users to customize their audio experience based on their preferences.

Voice control is another significant feature, thanks to the built-in Alexa functionality. This integration allows you to control the TV and other smart home devices using voice commands, adding a layer of convenience to your viewing experience. For example, you can easily switch between inputs, adjust the volume, or search for content without needing to use the remote control.
Connectivity options are abundant, with multiple HDMI ports, USB ports, and support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
