The Dual Pixel autofocus system provides fast and accurate focusing, which is particularly beneficial for capturing moving subjects, whether in photography or video. The 90D also supports 4K video recording at 30fps, a significant upgrade over its predecessor, making it an attractive choice for videographers.
In terms of usability, the camera features a fully articulating touchscreen LCD, allowing for creative angles and easy framing. The inclusion of the 18-55mm STM lens adds versatility, covering a useful focal length range for various shooting situations, from landscapes to portraits. When comparing the Canon EOS 90D to similar models, such as the Nikon D7500 or the Sony Alpha a6400, it becomes evident that the 90D offers a unique blend of features. While the D7500 boasts a slightly lower resolution, it does provide a more robust weather-sealed body. On the other hand, the Sony Alpha a6400, being a mirrorless option, offers superior autofocus performance in video mode but lacks the optical viewfinder that many photographers prefer in DSLRs. The Canon EOS 90D strikes a balance, providing both an optical viewfinder and advanced video capabilities, making it a versatile choice for a wide range of users.
In terms of long-term reliability, Canon's reputation for durability is well-established. The 90D is built to withstand regular use, with a shutter life expectancy of approximately 100,000 cycles, which is standard for cameras in this category.
