The 24.1-inch screen size strikes a balance between immersion and practicality, fitting comfortably on most gaming desks without overwhelming the space.
One of the standout features of the XL2566X+ is its DyAc 2 technology, which enhances motion clarity during fast-paced gaming. This is particularly beneficial in competitive scenarios where understanding the environment and enemy movements is crucial. The monitor also includes various gaming-centric features such as customizable color settings, Black eQualizer for improved visibility in dark scenes, and a low blue light mode to reduce eye strain during long gaming sessions.
In terms of connectivity, the XL2566X+ offers multiple input options, including DisplayPort and HDMI, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of gaming consoles and PCs. The other models may offer slightly higher resolutions or additional features, but the XL2566X+ excels in delivering a focused experience for competitive gaming without unnecessary distractions.
This review will delve into the monitor's performance, design, features, and overall value, providing a comprehensive understanding of why the BenQ Zowie XL2566X+ is a top choice for serious gamers.
Performance: Refresh Rate and Response Time Analysis
The performance of the BenQ Zowie XL2566X+ is heavily influenced by its impressive 400Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time. These specifications are critical for competitive gamers, as they directly impact the fluidity of gameplay and the ability to react to fast-moving in-game elements. During testing, the monitor demonstrated exceptional performance in various gaming scenarios, particularly in first-person shooters (FPS) like CS:GO and Valorant, where rapid movements and quick reflexes are essential.
With the DyAc 2 technology, the XL2566X+ reduces motion blur, allowing for clearer visuals during intense action sequences. This feature is particularly noticeable when tracking fast-moving opponents or navigating through chaotic environments. In side-by-side comparisons with monitors boasting lower refresh rates, the XL2566X+ provided a distinct advantage in clarity and responsiveness, enabling players to spot enemies and react faster.
Moreover, the monitor's TN panel, while traditionally criticized for limited viewing angles, offers a significant advantage in terms of response time. The color reproduction is adequate for gaming, although it may not satisfy graphic designers or content creators looking for high-fidelity color accuracy. However, for its intended purpose, the XL2566X+ excels in delivering the speed and responsiveness required for esports.
In real-world usage, gamers reported a noticeable improvement in their performance metrics, such as kill/death ratios and overall game awareness, after switching to the XL2566X+. This is a testament to how critical a high-refresh-rate monitor can be in competitive gaming environments.
Design and Build Quality: Ergonomics and Aesthetics
The design of the BenQ Zowie XL2566X+ is tailored for gamers, featuring a minimalist aesthetic that avoids unnecessary embellishments. The monitor’s black matte finish reduces glare and distractions, allowing players to focus on their games. One of the key aspects of its design is the ergonomic stand, which provides extensive adjustability. You can easily modify the height, tilt, and swivel to achieve the optimal viewing angle, which is essential during prolonged gaming sessions.
The build quality is robust, with a solid base that ensures stability during intense gameplay. The monitor can withstand the rigors of competitive gaming without wobbling or shifting, which is a common issue with less sturdy models. Additionally, the XL2566X+ features a cable management system that helps keep your gaming setup organized, reducing clutter and improving the overall aesthetic of your gaming station.
Another notable design feature is the customizable color settings, which allow you to tailor the display to your preferences. This is particularly useful for adjusting brightness and contrast levels based on the type of game being played, ensuring optimal visibility in all situations.
In comparison to similar models, the XL2566X+ offers a more gamer-centric design approach than some competitors, which may prioritize aesthetics over functionality. While monitors like the ASUS ROG Swift PG259QN come with RGB lighting and more flashy designs, the XL2566X+ maintains a focus on practicality and performance, making it a preferred choice for serious gamers who prioritize function over form.
Features: Gaming-Centric Innovations
The BenQ Zowie XL2566X+ is packed with features aimed at enhancing the gaming experience. One of the most significant is the DyAc 2 technology, which significantly reduces motion blur during fast-paced action. This feature allows for clearer visibility of moving objects, making it easier to track opponents and react appropriately.
Additionally, the Black eQualizer feature improves visibility in dark scenes without overexposing bright areas, allowing you to spot enemies hiding in shadows. This is particularly advantageous in games like Rainbow Six Siege, where environmental awareness can be the difference between victory and defeat.
The monitor also includes various preset modes tailored for specific game genres, such as FPS, RTS, and fighting games. These presets adjust color settings and contrast levels to optimize the viewing experience based on the type of game being played. Furthermore, the low blue light mode is an essential feature for gamers who spend extended hours in front of the screen, as it helps reduce eye strain and fatigue.
In terms of connectivity, the XL2566X+ offers multiple input options, including DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 2.0, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of gaming systems. The inclusion of a headphone jack is another thoughtful addition, allowing for easy access to audio without needing to reach for your PC or console.
When compared to competitors like the Acer Predator X25, which offers similar features but at a higher price point, the XL2566X+ provides excellent value. The performance enhancements and gaming-centric features make it a strong contender in the esports monitor market.

Strengths and Limitations: A Balanced Perspective
