Our analysis will cover aspects such as picture quality, sound performance, smart features, and build quality, providing you with a thorough insight into whether this model is the right choice for your home entertainment setup.
Design and Build Quality: A Premium Aesthetic
The design of the Samsung 85QN900F is a testament to modern aesthetics and functionality. With its ultra-slim profile, the TV is crafted to fit seamlessly into any living space. The nearly bezel-less screen maximizes the viewing area, creating an immersive experience that draws you into your content. The build quality is robust, featuring premium materials that not only enhance durability but also add a touch of sophistication to your home decor.
One of the standout features of this model is the One Connect Box, which houses all the input connections. This design minimizes cable clutter, allowing for a clean and organized setup. The box connects to the TV via a single, thin cable, further contributing to the sleek look. The TV also comes with a stylish stand that offers stability while maintaining an elegant appearance.
Picture Quality: Unmatched Clarity and Color
The Samsung 85-Inch Neo QLED 8K TV excels in picture quality, thanks to its 8K resolution and Neo Quantum HDR 8K Pro technology. The 8K resolution, which is four times that of 4K, provides incredible detail and clarity, making it ideal for large screens. The HDR capabilities enhance contrast and color depth, allowing for vibrant images that pop off the screen.
During testing, we found that the TV performed exceptionally well in various lighting conditions. Its Mini LED backlighting technology allows for precise control over local dimming, resulting in deeper blacks and brighter highlights. This capability is particularly noticeable in dark scenes, where shadow detail is preserved without losing brightness in other areas. The color accuracy is impressive, with a wide color gamut that ensures realistic skin tones and vivid landscapes.
Sound Performance: Immersive Audio Experience
Sound quality often takes a backseat in television reviews, but it is crucial for a complete viewing experience. The Samsung 85QN900F features Object Tracking Sound + technology, which uses built-in speakers to create a three-dimensional audio experience that matches the action on-screen. This feature is particularly effective during action sequences, where the sound seems to move with the visuals.
Additionally, the integration of Dolby Atmos enhances the audio, providing a surround sound experience that fills the room. During our tests, we noted that the sound was clear and well-balanced, with sufficient bass response for a TV of this size. However, for audiophiles or those seeking a more cinematic experience, pairing the TV with an external sound system is recommended.
Smart Features and User Interface: Intuitive and Responsive
The Samsung 85QN900F runs on the Tizen operating system, which offers a user-friendly interface and a wide range of smart features. The home screen is organized and easy to navigate, allowing quick access to streaming services, apps, and settings. The TV supports voice control through Alexa, making it convenient to change channels, adjust the volume, or search for content without using the remote.
In our testing, the responsiveness of the interface was commendable, with minimal lag when switching between apps or adjusting settings. The TV also supports various streaming services in 8K, such as Netflix and YouTube, ensuring that you can take full advantage of its capabilities. The integration of Samsung’s Vision AI enhances the viewing experience by optimizing picture settings based on the content being viewed.
